As you know server is the key person helping you and your restaurant
to run on the right path by providing a better service to the customer of the restaurant.
A crumber tool is an essential thing for a server to have at
all times.
A server is someone who serves the customer whatever they
need. Much like waiter and waitress. Sometimes people use the server or waiter
and use them interchangeably assuming they both mean the same.
But, that’s not the case.
Both server and waiter / waitress have different jobs and
tasks they want to accomplish during the job.
That’s true though that server and waiters are sometimes
given the same tasks so that becomes pretty hard to distinguish which one is of
which field.
Key Difference
Server is a term used to define both male and female unlike
waiter and waitress.
Usually, a server is a person who take the food to the table
for the customers to consume. On the flip side, waiter’s job is to “wait” on
the decisions of the customer and suggest some new varieties and better meal
plans depending on what the customer wants to eat.
Sometimes the jobs of both the server and waiters can be reversed.
What You Need To Look For When Getting A Server Crumber?
Here are a few things to keep in mind when getting a crumber
tool for a server:
Better quality
Quality matters when it comes to fine dining. If you have a
fine dining rweatuant (which I’m assuming it’s) than you should consider investing
in better and more reliable crumbers.
Better quality means better experience for both the
customer, you and your server. The overall environment of the restaurant
feels pretty good and the whole staff seems friendly when they know the owner
of the restaurant cares and is providing them the better experience by providing
better and more reliable tools to work with.
Color
Color is another thing to consider when getting a crumber
for a server. It really depends on the theme of the restaurant. Sometimes restaurant
set the warm yellow lights, pale lights, mixture of both the golden and white
lights and just white lights all together.
However, it really doesn’t matter which color you want to
pick but, if you are pretty conscious about these things and want to create a
better match even when it comes to the crumber tool then you should consider
looking at the overall theme, colors and lighting of the restaurant starting from
top to bottom.
Hand glove
Hand glove is important because the modern crumber is a one
sided tool meaning they don’t come with their crumbs picking part as opposed to
the vintage
crumber. You have to manually put the crumbs from the table to the dustbin.
For this reason, you have to wear hand gloves so you can
pick the crumbs in your hand and can throw them away into dustbin.
Quantity
It really depends on how much staff you’ve catered during
the past few years depending on your restaurant credibility and popularity.
If I were in your shoes I’ll go for 20% more crumber then
the number of servers.
Which means if I have about 10 servers in my restaurant then
20% of 10 servers means 2 additional crumbers I want to have so even if when a
few of them are missing we have additional ones to work with without breaking
the process of the restaurant.
Also, there is one more thing to know about is that you
should keep on replacing them with new crumbers each and every 6 months because
they can become scratchy and doesn’t look good as the time keeps going and you
still use the same set.
And even during that time they should be considered as
normal kitchen utensils meaning the washer person should wash them each and
every day when the restaurant is closed and restaurant crockery is in the kitchen
and in cleaning process.
Where to Get a Server Crumber?
If you really want to get the server crumber pretty quickly
you can do an online search like “table crumber near me” and you might be able
to get data related to that.
However, if you have the time to think about the better
possible solutions I’ll suggest you to go for the online path. Since, you’ll
find many options to choose from and can see reviews as well. This will help
you a lot in making a better and more fulfilling, effective decision.
I want to suggest something though. I think the better option
you can get is the crumber provided by Laguiole. Laguiole is a company known
for its quality and they make all sort of products related to kitchen and fine
dining.
One thing to note is that you can’t really find that product
pretty easily because of the demand. So here’s anotheroption which I recommend because it is as good as the branded option. It
has a handle attached to it which is very essential for a crumber tool to have.
If you still prefer getting the crumber locally because of
some reasons then you can go to the local marts like Walmart, Target or Costco to
make a purchase.
Here You Have It
This is why a server crumber is so important. Because it’s essentially
this is the person who really go to the table to place the food. He might see
crumbs on the table and should be confident and capable enough to do a quick sweep
with a crumber tool to give the customer a proper and delightful experience.
